Daniels, born November 9, 1982, is 6 feet 3 inches (1.91 meters) tall and weighs 245 pounds (111 kg). The 37-year-old is a native of Naperville, Illinois, and attended Naperville Central High School.

He began playing football in high school and led his team to an IHSA Class 6A State Championship in 1999. He was named an All-American by both Prep Football Report and PrepStar. Daniels was also involved in basketball and track and field.

While studying atmospheric and oceanic sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, he continued to play football. He began his career as a quarterback for the Wisconsin Badgers before moving on to flanker, split end, wingback, and tight end.

How did Owen Daniels start his Professional Career?

Daniels was chosen in the fourth round of the 2006 NFL Draft, 98th overall. He played for the Houston Texans for seven seasons, from 2006 to 2013. In his first season, he had five touchdowns and 352 yards on 34 receptions. In 2007, Daniels had three touchdown grabs for 768 yards and three touchdowns.

After a strong 2008 season in which he had 70 receptions for 862 yards, Daniels missed the majority of the 2009 season due to a torn ACL. On March 3, 2011, he agreed to terms with the Houston Texans on a four-year contract worth an estimated $22 million. Despite this, on March 11, 2014, the Texans waived him.

He signed a one-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens on April 3, 2014, for $1 million, scoring four touchdowns on 48 receptions for 527 yards. Similarly, instead of re-signing with the Ravens, he signed a three-year, $12 million contract with the Denver Broncos on March 10, 2015. Daniels was released by the Broncos on March 8, 2016, after only one season with the team, effectively ending his career.
